TRANSPORT ON SADO ISLAND

Public transport options on Sado Island include buses, taxis, and sight-seeing buses.

If you don’t want to worry about timetables, bring your own car to Sado or renting one here is a great option. If you want to rent a car, advanced reservations are recommended, especially in summer.

During EC, there will be EC Shuttle Buses (EC Charter Buses, EC Express Buses, EC Ogi Loop Buses, etc.) operating in addition to regular local bus services.

The main events at EC take place just a few minutes on foot from Ogi Port. Traveling to the EC venues in Ogi via local island buses takes approximately 1h 50m from Ryotsu Port and 1hr 30m from Aikawa. However, island buses are not frequent, so make sure you plan your trip beforehand by checking the Sado Island Bus timetable and route maps. (Japanese website, English translation available)

Travel as much as you like for one or more days with an all-day pass valid on EC shuttle bus services (Charter, Express, Ogi Loop Bus), and local bus services. It’s a great deal!

Advanced reservations are required to ride EC Charter Buses.
No reservation is required to ride EC Express Buses.

EC All-Day Bus Passes can be used on EC Charter & Express Buses. However, please note that Sado’s local bus free pass is not valid for travel on EC Charter or Express Bus services.

EC Charter Buses and Express Buses are convenient for:

•  travel to/from EC Pre-Event “Sado Takigi Noh Performance”
• travel between Ryotsu Port and Ogi (EC’s main event area) 
• travel back to Ryotsu and Aikawa after Harbour Market Concerts

This loop bus will run between the main venue located areas (Ogi – Shukunegi – Sado Island Taiko Centre (Tatakokan) during the EC period.
The shuttle bus services are convenient for travel between Ogi, where the main EC events take place, Sobama Campground, and other lodging facilities nearby.

The EC Ogi Loop Bus and EC Shuttle Buses are convenient for travel to the following events:

• Harbour Market Concerts and other events in the Ogi area (markets, Fringe performances, EC Workshops, EC Lecture & Demonstration Series, Sado Experience Program registrations etc.)
• EC Theatre
• Tatakokan Special Event “Fun Saturday with Sammy”
• Affiliated Event “Taiko Experience with Sammy”
